A Unique Car with a History
The 2005 Ford GT is considered a true American legend, even though newer models may boast better speed. This car was created as a modern tribute to the Le Mans-winning GT40, and even twenty years later, it continues to impress with its appearance. Recently, one of the best examples, once owned by Paul Walker and his friend Roger Rodas, appeared at an auction in California.
Rare Specifications and Modifications
This Ford GT is one of only 14 examples manufactured in 2005 in Mark IV Red color, but without the traditional racing stripes seen on most other models. Although the car is impressive with its standard specifications, Walker’s former car has a number of improvements. For example, it is equipped with 19- and 20-inch ADV.1 wheels, as well as new Penske shock absorbers. The supercharged 5.4-liter V8 engine received an Accufab throttle body, ECU tuning, and a custom exhaust system. Although there is no exact power data, it probably significantly exceeds the standard 550 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque.
Interior Condition and Collectible Value
The car’s interior is completely preserved in its standard form, making it even more valuable. It retains the iconic Sparco seats, the original McIntosh audio system, steering wheel, and instruments. The sale also includes the original forged BBS wheels. Furthermore, the car has only 3,701 miles on it, making it extremely rare for a public auction.
This Ford GT combines rare specifications, a famous owner, and low mileage, making it an ideal choice for collectors and enthusiasts.
Cars with such a history often become the subject of fierce competition at auctions, especially when it comes to limited-run models. The 2005 Ford GT has long been a symbol of automotive culture, and its connection to Paul Walker adds emotional weight to it. This is not just a vehicle, but a piece of history that continues to inspire new generations of speed and style enthusiasts.
