by A new Audi A8 L Horch was presented in China. It is the most expensive extended version of the sedan, and its main competitor will be the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class.
It seems that Volkswagen Group decided to compete with Mercedes using the same weapon by also reviving the famous brand of the past. Horch cars were produced from 1902 to 1959, and during the pre-war period, they competed with Maybach. By the way, several Horch cars are also present in Ukraine.
Moreover, August Horch is the father of both Horch and Audi – he founded both companies. Interestingly, the name Audi is essentially a translation of the surname Horch from German to Latin. As a result, the car is called Audi A8 L Audi – just like Ferrari LaFerrari. It is also worth noting that Audi, Horch, along with DKW and Wanderer, created the Auto Union Group, whose logo consists of four interlinked rings.
The recipe for creating the luxury version is known from the same Maybach – the sedan was extended to 5.45 m, and its front part was slightly modified. At the rear of the cabin, there are two separate seats with power adjustments, ventilation, and massage function. Naturally, the interior is trimmed with leather and wood, and the equipment includes a touchscreen for rear passengers, a perfume diffuser, and a Bang & Olufsen sound system.
The new Audi A8 L Horch has been presented so far only with a 3.0-liter 340-horsepower turbocharged six-cylinder engine, but a 4.0-liter version is expected to appear later. However, W12 is still in question. The sedan features all-wheel drive and air suspension.
