Photos and Details of the Stripped-Down Lada Granta Without ABS and Airbags en

Photos and information about the simplified “sanctioned” version of the Lada Granta have surfaced on the internet. It lacks even the most basic safety systems and familiar equipment.

This basic Lada Granta appears unremarkable from the outside, but inside it features an old steering wheel from the Kalina. The car is equipped with a 1.6-liter 8-valve engine meeting Euro-2 standards.

The car not only lacks ABS and airbags – it is completely bare. And, they are asking for $10,500 for it – quite costly for a drum edition. There is another option for $12,800, which includes front power windows and a power steering, but there is no air conditioning or audio system.

As is known, it has been officially approved in Russia to produce such cars. The safety system components and catalysts were imported and became scarce after sanctions were imposed.

They threaten to produce 20,000 such cars per month, and later these versions will appear on the Niva. With the Vesta, it’s unclear – it has more imported parts. However, even launching such a stripped-down VAZ into production is still not possible. The plant in Tolyatti has extended its downtime again – now until early June.
