Genesis Hinted at the Existence of the G70 and Endowed It with Luxurious Updates

Presentation of the New Model

The G70 remains a relatively inconspicuous phenomenon in the automotive market, but Genesis has not forgotten about its competitor, the BMW 3-Series. On the contrary – they used the Los Angeles Auto Show to present the new G70 Prestige Graphite model.

Exclusive Execution

Created exclusively for North America, this model line is positioned as an “exclusive new trim” that combines “bold design elements with enhanced driving comfort.”

Exterior

The sports sedan received an exclusive exterior paint job in Ceres Blue or Vatna Gray with black mirror caps and dark chrome accents. The trim also includes a power trunk lid and dark 19-inch wheels paired with black Brembo brake calipers.

If you find it hard to discern the new color and wheels – you are not alone. Genesis published only one grainy, low-resolution photo taken from a distance, as if they didn’t want you to examine the car too closely.

Car Interior

The color design continues inside the cabin, which, fortunately, Genesis decided to photograph properly. It is adorned with exclusive Ultramarine Blue Nappa leather with contrasting orange accents. The stylish seats are complemented by a microfiber suede headliner, orange seat belts, and a 12.3-inch 3D digital instrument cluster.

Comfort and Equipment

Buyers will also get heated and ventilated front seats, as well as a heated steering wheel. Other amenities include aluminum pedals, aluminum trim, and a sunroof. These are complemented by a 10.25-inch multimedia system and a 15-speaker Lexicon premium audio system.

Technical Specifications

The car received a twin-turbocharged 3.3-liter V6 engine producing 365 hp (272 kW / 370 PS) and 376 lb-ft (509 Nm) of torque. It is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, which can be complemented by rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.

In terms of performance, the G70 features an electronically controlled sport suspension. It has a 0.4-inch (10 mm) lower ride height for “improved handling and stability.”

Price and Availability

Genesis did not announce when the model will appear at dealerships, but the price starts from $56,900 excluding the $1,395 destination fee. With all-wheel drive, the cost will be $58,900.

This represents a $3,300 premium compared to the existing Sport Prestige trim. That’s a fairly significant difference, but exclusivity doesn’t come cheap.

The introduction of a special G70 version indicates that the manufacturer continues to refine the model despite its age. Similar limited series often serve as a test for potential updates or a way to maintain interest in the model in anticipation of the next generation. The emphasis on color schemes and exclusive materials is particularly interesting, as it may indicate a shift in the brand’s strategy for positioning its products.
