The track-focused Gordon Murray T.50s Niki Lauda, created by the team of McLaren F1 designer Gordon Murray, demonstrated a significantly faster lap time than GT3 class racing cars. During testing, the prototype completed the track seven seconds faster than the GT3 record. This is reported by Carscoops.

The final stage of testing took place at the Bahrain International Circuit. Scottish racing driver Dario Franchitti was behind the wheel of the experimental prototype XP3.

The car set a lap time of 1:53.03, which is approximately seven seconds faster than the record times of GT3 category cars. Typically, such racing cars complete a lap on this track about ten seconds slower.

During the fast lap, the car reached a top speed of 296 km/h. According to the team, the car generated braking forces of up to 3g, and up to 2.7g in high-speed corners.

The Bahrain circuit was chosen for final testing due to its combination of high-speed corners, heavy braking zones, and high temperatures.

The track version of the Gordon Murray T.50s received 761 hp

Like the road-going T.50, the track version is equipped with a naturally aspirated 3.9-liter V12 engine developed by Cosworth. After modifications, the unit produces 761 hp at 11,500 rpm and can rev up to 12,100 rpm.

The engine received a new cylinder head, upgraded camshafts, a 15:1 compression ratio, a new intake system, and a lightweight Inconel exhaust system.

The engine works in conjunction with a six-speed semi-automatic transmission.

Aerodynamic elements allow generating up to 1199 kg of downforce. Production of the model is limited to 25 units, and all of them have already been sold.
