Jeep introduced a new rooftop tent concept
At the Overland Expo West exhibition, Jeep presented the Awning and Rooftop Tent (ARTT) concept. It was developed in collaboration with Dometic and is installed directly on the roof of the Wrangler 4xe Sunchaser model, eliminating the need for heavy roof racks.
The tent features a lightweight carbon body, which improves aerodynamics and reduces the overall weight of the structure. The tent is equipped with AIR Frame Inflation technology for quick deployment and an integrated awning with a 270-degree unfolding capability. Inside, there is a queen-size mattress.
“Rooftop tents have exploded in popularity, but many of them are heavy and have poor aerodynamics.”
Additional features of the concept
One of the most interesting features is the ability to enter the tent directly from the car’s interior thanks to the removable Freedom Panels. For convenience, a carbon step is provided, which is installed above the center console.
The Wrangler 4xe Sunchaser, on which the tent is demonstrated, was introduced earlier this year. It is equipped with an upgraded suspension, 37-inch tires, a Warn winch, and a unique exterior design inspired by the Land Rover Defender.
This concept demonstrates how Jeep is developing ideas for active recreation, combining innovative technologies with practicality. The use of carbon and the unique mounting system could become a new standard for such equipment in the future.
