Children of the 90s, who played with Turbo wrappers and remember what “without pickups” is, were not spoiled with supercars after the announcement of Ukraine’s independence. Only a few managed to see “budget” Porsche sports cars in real life, and the luckiest ones encountered Ferrari or Lamborghini and rare cars from the USA at least once.
Few supercars of the 90s have survived to this day, some of which arrived here after the collapse of the USSR. Personally, the brightest impression for me was left by a yellow Ferrari F355, which I saw for the first time during drag racing at the SK “Chaika” in Kyiv in the early 2000s. It later turned out that not unknown Kakha Kaladze, who then played for Kyiv’s Dynamo, drove it. Where this car is now is a mystery of history.
In the mid-2000s, Kaladze again surprised the Ukrainian capital, appearing in Kyiv with a black Porsche Carrera GT collector’s car. Unfortunately, only such photos remain…
One of the favorites among supercars of the 90s is certainly the Lamborghini Diablo in Ukraine. This instance with a complex destiny has seen much on its way and miraculously “survived” after the notorious events in Donbas, and now it is in Kyiv.
And here is the gray Ferrari 456 on Kyiv plates of the old type. It seems the car is still running, but considering the recently “surfaced” red specimen for sale, it can be assumed that it was repainted.
Jaguar XJ220 – the dream limit not only in the 90s but also now. I personally saw this car driving through Kyiv (along Olena Teliha Ave) with one broken headlight. Then the car was in the company’s green color, more details will tell our Jaguar XJ220 story in Ukraine.
In the first half of the 2000s, a few Lamborghini LM SUVs were imported into Ukraine. One of them belonged to Yurii Kosiuk, they were sold relatively recently. Where they are now is unknown.
Rumor has it that in the 90s even the legendary Ferrari F40 was in Ukraine, which belonged to one of Lviv’s criminal authorities. When he had a disagreement with someone, it was allegedly burned. There is also information that at the beginning of the 2000s, a Lamborghini Countach in Ukraine was seen.
Photos for Attention!
But these are just parts of speculation and rumors, so we set ourselves a goal – to collect photos and evidence of rare supercars in Ukraine, which were heard of but seldom seen. Back then, phones couldn’t take pictures yet, so the truth had to be sought on film. That’s why if you have preserved old photographs of Ukraine’s supercars of the 90-2000s, send them to our email [email protected], we will definitely publish them!
P.S. As a teaser, here are some more rare photos of exclusive cars in Ukraine with old plates. Among them, by the way, is another “Ukrainian” Lamborghini Diablo, only remade into a newer Murcielago.
