When the Soul Asks for a Rolls-Royce, but the Wallet Only Allows a Taxi

Japanese Wedding Taxi by Toyota

In Japan, where traditions and attention to detail are of particular importance, a wedding organizer decided that the ideal transport for newlyweds should not be a limousine, but a modified city taxi. This unusual idea turned out to be successful — the practical car was transformed into an elegant wedding carriage with a special charm.

Outside of Japan, the Toyota JPN Taxi is not as well-known, although since 2017 this model has been transporting passengers in Tokyo, Bangkok, and Hong Kong. It was created for the comfort of drivers and passengers, but one specimen received a new purpose.

Stylish Design for Special Occasions

The edited version of the taxi belongs to the Meiji Kinenkan wedding hall near Tokyo. It is used to transport newlyweds between ceremonial sites, including the Meiji Jingu shrine. The car received:

  • Two-tone paint (dark burgundy and black) with gold lines.
  • Retro wheels with gold details.
  • License plates with the symbolic code “1122” (“Good pair”).

Inside, the rear seats are upholstered in red leather for a more premium feel. The technical specifications remained unchanged — a hybrid system with an engine running on liquefied gas and an electric motor. For 2025, the model received a larger fuel tank, allowing for fewer stops during wedding trips.

This unusual taxi variant could become an alternative to classic limousines, offering newlyweds comfort and original style. Although it cannot match the luxury of royal carriages, its unique design and functionality make it an interesting choice for special moments.
