Fang Cheng Bao Unveils Formula Lineup of Electric Vehicles
Fang Cheng Bao, a subsidiary of BYD known for its SUVs, dramatically transformed its image at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show. The manufacturer presented an impressive supercar and three low-profile electric vehicles from the Formula series.
Formula X: Open-top Supercar
The Formula X was the main star of the exhibition. This open-top supercar is an evolution of the 2024 Super 9 concept. It features balanced proportions, aggressive LED headlights, upward-opening doors, and 19 functional ventilation openings. The overall style resembles Denza — another BYD brand targeting the European market.
The body is made of carbon fiber, as is the special “monocage” chassis. The two-seat cabin has a futuristic “fighter cockpit” design centered around the driver, without the structural crossbar present in the previous concept.
The supercar is equipped with three electric motors producing a combined output of 1,000 hp (746 kW) and 1,000 Nm of torque. While these figures would have seemed extreme ten years ago, they now fall short of the record-breaking BYD YangWang U9 Xtreme, which boasts 2,977 hp.
Nevertheless, the characteristics of the Formula X look promising. BYD announced plans to launch the model into series production by 2027. It remains to be seen whether this electric vehicle will be available outside of China.
Hatchback and Two Sedans
In addition to the supercar, the Formula series is expanding into the business-class segment. The Formula S is a sedan that will compete with the Porsche Taycan. The Formula S GT is a hatchback/estate in the shooting brake style, and the Formula SL is a premium version of the sedan.

The S and S GT models are two different body styles on the same platform, which could easily wear the Denza badge. The SL is distinguished by updated bumpers, a more prominent profile, and 21-inch gold alloy wheels.
All three models are based on the same electric platform with an 800-volt architecture, a three-motor all-wheel-drive system producing up to 1,000 hp, and the DiSus-M magnetic suspension control system. They share the same wheelbase of 3100 mm and an overall length exceeding 5000 mm.
These high-performance electric vehicles are expected to hit the roads by the end of 2026. They will expand the Fang Cheng Bao lineup, which already includes the Leopard series of SUVs.
Thus, Fang Cheng Bao is making a bold move into the high-performance electric vehicle segment, offering both an extreme supercar and more practical models for everyday use. This underscores BYD’s ambitions to compete not only in the mass market but also in the premium and sports segments, where traditional European brands have previously dominated. The market launch in 2026-2027 will show whether the Chinese manufacturer can offer not only impressive technical specifications but also the handling quality and design that buyers of such cars expect.
