Lexus Made the ES Incredibly Boring, and Modellista is Trying to Restore Its Lost Individuality

The New Lexus ES Gets an Updated Look

The new Lexus ES model debuted with altered aesthetics, replacing the smooth lines of its predecessor with sharper and more defined contours. This design can be called cleaner, but not all car enthusiasts approve of this shift towards a more conservative style, oriented towards the Chinese market. Aiming to add more expressiveness to the model, Modellista presented a special accessory kit for the ES at the Tokyo Auto Salon.

Details of the Updated Kit

The new components give the Lexus ES a slightly sportier look, although they don’t appear too radical. Motorists looking for a Lexus sedan capable of attracting attention might want to consider the IS model, especially in its recently updated version.

Modellista presented the ES upgrade kit at the Tokyo Auto Salon event. The new body kit adds subtle accents to the front and rear bumpers. The side skirts are equipped with a customizable LED strip that can glow in different colors.

At the front, Modellista developed a new body-colored splitter for the ES, combining it with extended side skirts that harmoniously complement the overall appearance. The most interesting detail of these skirts is the customizable LED strip capable of reproducing various colors. New mirror caps with a matte black finish have also appeared.

Exterior Changes and Wheels

The changes continue on the sides, where a set of 21-inch forged aluminum wheels with a spiral spoke design is installed. This significantly improves the ES’s appearance compared to the standard wheels shown last year. A new body-colored diffuser area has also been added to the rear bumper.

The Future of the F Sport Version and Availability

The previous version of the ES was available in an F Sport trim, which gave the car additional expressiveness. There is currently no information on whether Lexus plans to release an F Sport version for the completely new ES, but experts believe such a move would be appropriate. Renderings by Theottle gave an idea of the possible look of a new ES F Sport, clearly demonstrating how the design of the new model could be highlighted.

Since the version shown in Tokyo is still a prototype, the price for the production components has not been announced. It is also still unknown whether these parts will be available outside of Japan.

The tuning package presented by Modellista is an interesting example of how accessory manufacturers try to adapt mass-produced models to the tastes of different audiences. The emphasis on customizable lighting and details that emphasize the body lines reflects modern trends in automotive design, where personalization is becoming increasingly important. In the context of Lexus’s overall shift towards more restrained aesthetics, such offerings from third-party ateliers could become a key factor in attracting buyers seeking individuality.
