Porsche Cayenne Electric Lineup Gains New Powerful Mid-Range Model

A Powerful Mid-Ranger in the Electric Family

The Porsche Cayenne Electric lineup has been expanded with a new variant – the S model. It occupies the position between the base version and the powerful Cayenne Turbo Electric, offering an ideal balance of performance and practicality.

Technical Specifications and Performance

The new model features all-wheel drive and two electric motors. In normal mode, the power output is 536 hp, but when the Launch Control function is activated, it increases to an impressive 657 hp. This allows the large electric SUV to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds, with the top speed electronically limited to 155 mph.

For comparison, the base electric Cayenne produces 435 hp and accelerates to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. Both motors are permanently excited synchronous motors (PSM), with the rear motor featuring direct oil cooling for effective heat management under load. This system helps maintain high performance. The rear inverter also uses silicon carbide semiconductors.

Additional Options and Fast Charging

For those wishing to enhance their driving experience, Porsche offers a range of packages. These include the Porsche Active Ride active suspension, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus system, ceramic composite brakes, and the Sport Chrono package with a “push-to-pass” function. The latter temporarily increases power by an additional 120 hp for a period of up to ten seconds.

The S model also stands out with its high charging speed. It is equipped with a 113 kWh battery pack that can charge from 10 to 80% in less than 16 minutes when connected to a powerful fast-charging station. The system supports charging speeds of up to 400 kW. The vehicle has an NACS port on the driver’s side and a J1772 port on the passenger side, and also comes with a CCS adapter.

Design and Interior

Externally, the S model has received characteristic details, such as Volcano Grey Metallic color trim on the front and rear, as well as 20-inch Cayenne S Aero wheels. Buyers have access to 13 exterior colors and numerous options for customizing the interior. One of the new personalization options is the “Interior Style Package” from Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur, which combines black leather with green accents and matching stitching throughout the cabin.

Price and Availability

The new Porsche Cayenne S Electric is now available for order. Its starting price in the USA is $126,300, excluding a $2,350 destination charge. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in late summer 2026. This is $17,300 more expensive than the base electric Cayenne. The company has also confirmed the release of the powerful 1,139 hp Cayenne Electric Turbo version, which is set to debut later this summer, although its price has not yet been announced.

The arrival of the Cayenne S Electric clearly demonstrates Porsche’s strategy of expanding its electric portfolio, offering customers a wider choice in the high-performance SUV segment. This model fills a significant niche between the more accessible base version and the extreme Turbo, making high technology and dynamics more attainable. The launch terms and pricing indicate that the brand is positioning it as a premium offering, aimed at those seeking the optimal balance of characteristics without compromises in everyday use. The success of this model could significantly influence the further electrification of the entire brand’s model range.
