Lamborghini Manifesto Hints at Revolutionary Era in Design

Concept Presentation

Lamborghini Centro Stile recently celebrated its 20th anniversary, and on this occasion, the Manifesto concept was presented. It is described as a “visionary sculpture” that demonstrates “the potential future of our unique design DNA.”

Design Details

The manufacturer has not provided official comments about the car, but Lamborghini’s design director Mitja Borkert published several photos and renders. They show an extreme hypercar with an evolutionary front end, triangular headlights, and Y-shaped daytime running lights. The model also features a recognizable nose and aggressive carbon fiber air intakes.

Exterior and Features

Continuing the overview, one can see heavily stylized body elements with angular lines and streamlined surfaces. They are complemented by carbon fiber wheels and sporty side skirts. One can also notice what appears to be a dual glass cockpit.

The rear is significantly different and looks somewhat generalized, as it is dominated by a massive diffuser. The designers also equipped the model with Y-shaped taillights and a black panel with the Lamborghini logo.

Even more noticeable is that the rear lid has angular supports and appears to have a ventilated cover. Some images also show a red stripe, which could likely be an additional stop signal.

Design Center History

Not much is known about the concept, but Lamborghini reports that the move towards in-house design began in the 1980s when the Jalpa and LM 002 were created by technical director Giulio Alfieri. This process then intensified after Audi acquired the brand in 1998.

As part of the acquisition, “design processes and facilities were established.” Luc Donckerwolke also joined the company and was subsequently appointed chief designer in 2003.

Around the same time, Audi’s head of design Walter de’ Silva recommended that Lamborghini get its own design studio. It was officially announced in 2003, and their first car was completed two years later.

CEO Stephan Winkelmann stated that Lamborghini Centro Stile “has consolidated the role of design not only in creating extraordinary Italian super sports cars but has always pushed the boundaries to deliver the unexpected, so inherent to the Lamborghini brand, from concept cars to limited series exploring new horizons, to unique models that have cemented the appeal of Lamborghini models in private collections.”

Over its twenty years of operation, Centro Stile has become an integral part of the brand’s identity, shaping not only the appearance of the cars but also defining future trends in automotive design. This anniversary concept demonstrates how tradition combines with innovation, remaining true to the brand’s heritage while simultaneously opening new paths for development.
