In June, the long-awaited Brad Pitt film about Formula 1 will be released, and to mark the occasion, Mercedes has presented a limited series of the AMG GT. The release, called the APXGP Edition, is limited to 52 examples worldwide and features a unique black-and-gold design inspired by the race cars of the fictional APXGP team from the film.
This special version of the coupe is based on the GT 63 4Matic+ and is equipped with a 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8 producing 585 horsepower. Its calling card is a matte black paint with bright gold elements.
The most noticeable accent is the gold trim on the radiator grille. This motif continues on the front fenders in the form of longitudinal gold stripes. The rear of the body is adorned with a black-and-gray pattern, and the 21-inch wheels, as one might easily guess, are also gold in color.
The car also received carbon fiber exterior elements, an AMG aerodynamic kit with a fixed rear spoiler, and the AMG Night Package II with black details.
Gold elements are also present in the interior – stitching on the seats, trim on the steering wheel, dashboard, air vents, and center console. The car is equipped with a Burmester 3D audio system with 15 speakers, ambient lighting, and a “Limited Edition 1 of 52” plaque.
Although all modern Formula 1 teams appeared in the film, Mercedes-AMG provided SL, S-Class, and GT models for filming. The team’s former driver Lewis Hamilton, who now races for Ferrari, served as one of the film’s producers.
The company has not yet announced the price of the limited edition AMG GT APXGP Edition or specified in which countries it will be available.
