Unique Mitsubishi Pajero
You might need a second look to believe it, but this strange off-roader in front of you is a genuine Mitsubishi Pajero. This is not an eccentric post-market tuning project from a studio like Mitsuoka, but a limited production model released by Mitsubishi itself.
Rare Flying Pug Model
This unusual version of the Mitsubishi Pajero is called the Flying Pug, an exclusive Japanese model from the late 1990s. It is believed that fewer than 140 examples were produced, and one of these rare specimens is now offered for sale in Park City, Utah.
Design and Basis
Based on the two-door Pajero Junior, the Flying Pug retains its rugged foundation but received a body inspired by classic British cars from brands such as Bentley, Rolls-Royce, and MG. Depending on the angle, it might look like a homemade project, but in reality, it is a genuine factory project by Mitsubishi, making it particularly appealing.
Sales Offer
This Flying Pug was listed for sale through Cars & Bids with only 39,400 miles on it. It was imported to the United States in 2024. A similar model appeared a few years ago with a price of $11,800.
British Style and Details
To give the Pajero Junior British charm, Mitsubishi completely changed the front and rear ends, adding a chrome radiator grille that could have been borrowed from a classic Rolls-Royce, round headlights and turn signals, extended wheel arches, round taillights, and chrome bumpers. Although “beautiful” is not quite the right word to describe it, its individuality is undeniable.

Technical Specifications
The car is equipped with a 1.1-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 79 horsepower and 72 lb-ft of torque. It retains all-wheel drive, like a regular Pajero Junior, and the description states that it has an American title, so the new owner won’t have to go through additional procedures for legal road use.
For Auto Exotic Enthusiasts
For those interested in unusual pages of JDM history and have a weakness for British style, this Flying Pug might be worth attention. Check out the offer before it’s too late.
The production of unique models like the Flying Pug often becomes a subject of collection due to their rarity and originality. Its appearance on the American market may attract attention not only from Mitsubishi enthusiasts but also from lovers of auto exotics in general, demonstrating how Japanese manufacturers experimented with design in the past.
