The Most Famous Rolls-Royce Engine Lives On Thanks to Halcyon

British Company to Restore and Modernize Rolls-Royce and Bentley

The British firm Halcyon plans to produce 60 restored and modernized Rolls-Royce and Bentley cars. These restomods, distinguished by their restraint, will cost from an impressive £425,000. Each car’s interior will be equipped with an exclusive 1.4-meter-long gallery and trimmed in luxurious tan-colored leather.

The Heart of the Car – A Legendary Engine

Unlike most restomods focused on sports cars, Halcyon has decided to breathe new life into the Rolls-Royce Corniche. The car is based on an enhanced version of the iconic 6.75-liter L-Series V8 engine used by Rolls-Royce and Bentley for over six decades. This powertrain, known as The Great Eight Series, has been modernized for greater power and improved throttle response. Exact power figures and specific engine design changes have not yet been disclosed.

In addition to the updated engine, the car has received an enhanced braking system and adaptive suspension with electronically controlled dampers.

Exclusive Design and Interior

The first Halcyon Corniche example is presented as a design studio named ‘Rose and Scroll’. The car is painted in Arboretum Green, which provides a deep metallic hue that, according to its creators, glistens and changes under different lighting. Since cars like the Corniche are a symbol of class, there are no pronounced body modifications characteristic of some restomods.

Significant changes have been made to the car’s interior. It is upholstered in new luxurious tan leather and features a new 1.4-meter-long dashboard gallery that can be customized according to the buyer’s preferences. In this example, the ‘Halcyon Gallery’ is adorned with exclusive engraving in the form of roses and scrolls, as well as inlays depicting a kingfisher bird.

Brand Philosophy and Production Plans

We set out to create the best versions of these cars for today, and The Great Eight series develops our philosophy through a distinctly mechanical experience. The L-Series V8 engine is one of the finest engines of its time, loved for how it made the car feel and for the ease with which it delivered its performance. We have taken that character and elevated it, improving both its performance and the manner of its delivery. Alongside our electric interpretation, it offers a clear expression of the same Halcyon standard, defined by mechanical character and true occasion.

The British manufacturer plans to produce 60 special cars in The Great Eight series, with each one requiring 5,000 hours of work. Of these 60 units, 30 will be based on Rolls-Royce and Bentley Corniche Drop Head Coupe models, 20 on Fixed Head Coupe versions, and the remaining 10 on Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow and Bentley T-Series models. The price starts from £425,000.

The Halcyon project demonstrates an interesting trend in the world of restomods, focused not on speed and aggressive design, but on timeless luxury, durability, and mechanical perfection. Preserving the legendary engine alongside modern technology creates a unique product that appeals to collectors seeking a combination of history and modern standards of comfort and reliability. The limited series and high price emphasize exclusivity and handcrafted work, making each car a unique art object on wheels.
