German Tuning Studio Lorinser Took on Lada Niva

The company Lorinser, known for tuning Mercedes, has taken to selling the Niva. If today were April 1st, we would think the joke is quite funny, especially considering the background in the photo. But no, it’s not a joke, and today is not even April 2nd…

Lorinser GmbH has indeed taken the Niva “under its wing”! We are talking about the sale of the Lada Niva Legend 2021 model year. The German tuning studio (and one of the largest car dealers in Germany, which few people know, by the way) offers Nivas for 15,899-16,900 euros. Currently, there are two in black, two in golden brown and another one in gray and black shades.

Nivas are located in Lorinser showrooms, although neither Lorinser nor other German dealers hold the status of an official AvtoVAZ dealer. And, in principle, Lada has been officially banned in the EU since 2020. The issue here is not about sanctions (that’s the last thing when it’s about money), but that Ladas meet EURO-5 standards whereas Germany and other EU countries operate under EURO-6d.

How did the new Nivas end up in showrooms? The thing is that even in European laws there is a loophole, and according to it, “Nivas and other Ladas can be imported on an individual basis”.

P.S. The technologically ancient Niva is still popular in Germany. Just like with UAZ in Japan, Germans love this SUV from the USSR. Notably, Germans actively use the Russian SUV for… snow removal, garbage collection, etc.

By the way, do you know, what foreign auto journalists think about the updated Niva?
