Sales of the updated Lada Vesta have started in Russia. The prices for the budget model are truly shocking.
A batch of only 800 updated Lada Vesta NG cars has arrived at the showrooms of the aggressor country. In fact, the production of the model has not been resumed – the cars were managed to be assembled in February or March, but were held back, as the new Vesta had not yet gone on sale. The plant in Izhevsk, where the model is assembled, is still standing and its employees even complain to Putin about management.

By the way, this is exactly why the Vesta is equipped with ABS, airbags, and even ESP. More expensive configurations with keyless entry, air conditioning, cruise control, seat heating, and LED headlights went on sale.
Prices start from 1.63 million rubles, which is $27,000 at the official exchange rate. However, the first sold was the Lada Vesta SW wagon for 1.95 million rubles ($32,300).

Yes, it has climate control, a camera, rain and light sensors, and even a tablet from AliExpress touch display in the cabin, but here, the Toyota Camry and RAV4 in similar configurations are now cheaper. Moreover, the wagon was sold with a discount, without it the price reaches $38,400.
TopGir has already written that thanks to sanctions, new cars in Russia have already become almost the most expensive in the world, but this is an overkill even for the Vesta. Recall that in 2015 its basic version cost only $7,900. It seems that everything is returning to Soviet times when Zaporozhets were sold at the price of a Ford Mustang.
