Genesis GV60 Magma: first details

Genesis, as Hyundai Group’s premium brand, has long been preparing its first high-speed electric car. Now, thanks to new spy shots, we can see what the GV60 Magma will look like. Previously, the prototype was completely hidden under camouflage, but this time the front part remained uncovered.

The design resembles a concept car: a large dual grille occupies most of the bumper, and three additional ventilation openings are located above. Despite the fact that the GV60 is an electric car, it still needs cooling, especially during towing tests. Small aerodynamic elements on the sides of the bumper are also noticeable.

Technical features

The GV60 Magma is built on the same E-GMP platform as the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6, but it may receive an even more powerful powertrain. If the Ioniq 5 N delivers 641 hp in overboost mode, the Magma could approach 700 hp. This would allow it to accelerate even faster – possibly even surpassing the 3.3-second mark to 100 km/h.

The production version is expected to debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2025, with production starting as early as the third quarter of this year. Genesis plans to compensate for its late market entry with a more powerful car, leveraging the experience of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, which received praise for its simulated gear shifting.

Despite being an electric car, the GV60 Magma’s design and technical solutions resemble sports models with internal combustion engines. This could be a key advantage for driving enthusiasts who are not yet ready to fully switch to electric vehicles.
