Axis your updated title in English: Fully electric Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door shown earlier than planned

The electric Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door, which has been awaited for a very long time, may have been accidentally “leaked” by a popular YouTube blogger. This is the first electric vehicle created by AMG from scratch, and it will be a direct competitor to the Porsche Taycan and Audi e-tron GT.

Accidental “leak” just hours before the premiere

The new model is set to debut in just a few hours, but it seems blogger MercBenzKing published a preview video too early. The nearly 10-minute video briefly appeared on his page and was then quickly deleted. However, a screenshot of the video thumbnail was saved, allowing us to see the car unobstructed.

Design: predatory “catfish” or elegant coupe?

As recent prototypes have shown, the front of the car features a huge, wide blacked-out radiator grille, like many other Mercedes models. Above it, there is a small slot under the hood, which likely also serves for cooling. The headlights have an interesting shape with daytime running lights in the form of a three-pointed star. Compared to the old AMG GT 4-Door with an internal combustion engine, the new model looks a bit like a catfish.

The strange front end is somewhat compensated by the extremely sleek roofline, darkened side mirrors, and flush-mounted door handles. Also noticeable are black wheels with red outer rims and red brake calipers.

Technical specifications: over 1000 hp and artificial V8 sound

Of course, the success of this sedan will depend not only on the design. The wheels will be driven by a trio of advanced Yasa axial-flux electric motors, which will likely produce over 1000 horsepower. This is more than enough for the new AMG to compete with the Porsche Taycan and Audi e-tron GT.

Mercedes-AMG also aims to make the car sound like a true AMG. Recent test videos have shown that it will have a V8-inspired soundtrack and pseudo-gears, as first done on the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N.

The new electric GT from AMG imitates V8 sounds better than the Dodge Charger Daytona.

This car will be the first in the lineup of fully electric AMG models. It will be followed by a fully electric SUV from this division. Thus, Mercedes is making a serious bid for leadership in the high-performance electric vehicle segment, challenging not only German but also other global manufacturers. The use of Yasa axial-flux motor technology promises not only immense power but also compactness and efficiency, which is critical for a sports car. At the same time, the imitation of an internal combustion engine sound evokes mixed reactions: for some, it is nostalgia and a way to maintain an emotional connection with the car; for others, it is unnecessary artificiality that contradicts the very idea of an electric vehicle. Time will tell whether the new AMG GT 4-Door can become a worthy successor to the legendary “hot” Mercedes.
