Respected automotive analysts predict that by 2025, every fourth car sold worldwide will be a hybrid1. Time will tell, but the fact that the share of hybrid cars in the global fleet is growing rapidly is a fact. With this progress, many car owners have questions about which engine oil will be optimal for protecting a hybrid car engine.
Hybrid cars differ from non-hybrid cars. Their engines work intermittently, switching to electricity at low speeds to move the car. During normal city driving, the engine is usually used only for short intervals, with electric power providing most of the drive. That is why the temperature of a hybrid engine is approximately 40°C lower2 compared to the temperature of a conventional car engine.
Some hybrid engines can stop, switch to electricity, and restart up to 500,000 times3 during their service life – 10 times more than non-hybrid engines. Castrol experts say that in the absence of high temperatures, water and other contaminants do not evaporate, which increases the overall engine’s susceptibility to contamination.
Castrol introduces a new oil for hybrids in Ukraine- Castrol MAGNATEC HYBRID
The features of hybrid engines, as we mentioned above (lower temperature, frequent restarts, contamination risks), hinder standard oils from protecting the engine from destructive wear as best as possible. These new conditions are a challenge for engine oil. That is why the world oil producer Castrol has expanded its range of MAGNATEC oils for hybrids with Castrol MAGNATEC HYBRID.

The new Castrol MAGNATEC HYBRID is designed to withstand the serious tests of modern hybrid engines. The properties of Castrol MAGNATEC ‘clings, clings, and protects’ provide 50% better protection against wear at low temperatures and engine restarts4.
The oil meets the requirements of HYSPEC, a new efficiency standard for Castrol products for hybrid cars. You can learn more about this standard on the official Ukrainian Castrol website.
Castrol MAGNATEC HYBRID oil is already on sale. Today in the Ukrainian market, this specialized oil for hybrid car engines is represented by two viscosity grades: 0W-16 and 0W-20.
