The First GT Concept from Lynk & Co Looks Realistic for Series Production

The Lynk & Co brand, owned by Geely, is preparing for an important premiere. Here are the key points:

New Sporty Direction

Until now, Lynk & Co’s model range consisted of safe crossovers and sedans. Now the situation may change. The brand is preparing to show something more aggressive – a two-door GT concept, the premiere of which will take place at the Beijing Auto Show on April 24, 2026.

The single teaser image hints at a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive sports car with proportions close to the already discontinued Jaguar F-Type. A long dash-to-axle ratio, a low, sculpted profile, and muscular rear haunches are visible. The sloping roofline flows into full-width LED taillights, and the rising beltline is reminiscent of the Lynk & Co 10+ sedan.

Technical Capabilities and Potential

Details are still limited, which is expected at this stage, but the concept will almost certainly be built on an existing Geely architecture. This opens the door for either a fully electric setup or a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

Interestingly, the GT looks closer to production than the 2022 Next Day concept, which had a similar low, sporty silhouette but was more experimental due to its elongated body and four suicide-style rear doors. If the model gets the green light, it could compete with the Porsche 911, Mercedes-AMG GT, as well as the Chinese MG Cyberster.

The GT concept highlights Lynk & Co’s racing heritage, which has been quite successful in the TCR championship. The company entered the TCR championship in 2019, taking over the reins from Volvo Polestar’s discontinued racing program.

Structural Changes in Europe

Beyond show car news, Lynk & Co is undergoing structural changes in its global operations. Volvo Cars and Geely Auto recently signed a memorandum of understanding under which the former will take over Lynk & Co’s commercial operations and brand management in Europe.

Under this new agreement, Volvo will become the exclusive importer and distributor of Lynk & Co across the European continent, utilizing its dealer and service center network. This means the Geely-owned brand is moving away from its previous subscription-focused model to a more traditional retail structure.

These events clearly demonstrate Lynk & Co’s dynamic transformation. On one hand, the brand is expanding its boundaries by experimenting with sporty, emotional cars that could elevate its image. On the other – it is optimizing its international business processes by handing over European operations to the experienced Volvo. Such a two-pronged strategy could significantly strengthen the company’s position in the global market, combining innovative products with efficient logistics and sales.
