Key facts about the Range Rover GT
What is known about the new model
Jaguar Land Rover is preparing the fifth model in the Range Rover family. It will be called GT and is intended to blur the line between a sedan and a classic SUV. About a month after the first teaser, the new model was spotted on the Nürburgring track, where it was undergoing testing alongside two important competitors.
During the first half of the year, several heavily camouflaged prototypes were repeatedly seen in motion. At the time, information emerged that this model would become the successor to the current Velar. However, in July the company confirmed: the GT will be a separate addition to the Range Rover lineup, not a replacement for any existing model.
Design: low and aerodynamic
Many exterior elements of the GT echo other Range Rover models, in particular the Velar and the Evoque. However, the new model’s roof is significantly lower, and the overall silhouette is more streamlined than that of other brand representatives. It is not yet known how this shape will affect rear passenger headroom, but the aerodynamics should have a positive effect on range and efficiency.
Competitors: what inspired JLR
The published photos show the GT being tested together with the Audi Q6 e-tron and BMW iX3. This clearly indicates which rivals JLR considers the main ones for the new model. At launch, the GT will be available exclusively as an electric vehicle on an 800-volt architecture. It allows charging at DC stations with a power of up to 350 kW.

Technical details and hybrid future
Official powertrain specifications have not yet been disclosed. However, it can be assumed that the GT will be offered with a single electric motor and rear-wheel drive, as well as in a dual-motor all-wheel-drive version. Thanks to the modular EMA electric platform, a hybrid will appear later. This is important for markets where electric vehicles are being adopted more slowly than automakers expected.
Interior: the influence of Jaguar Type 01
The GT differs from other Range Rover models not only on the outside. The interior was designed with the electric Jaguar Type 01 in mind. Here you can see an unusual two-spoke steering wheel, a narrow digital instrument cluster, and a large central infotainment display.
The GT’s positioning looks quite bold for a brand that has always been associated with boxy shapes and maximum practicality. If the new model manages to combine a low body with characteristic off-road qualities, it could become a separate class in the premium segment. At the same time, the rapid expansion of the lineup with electric and hybrid versions shows that JLR is trying to remain flexible in the face of changing demand. Now all that remains is to wait for the official premiere and the first data on range, because these will be the main argument in the fight against German competitors.
