American tuning atelier Renntech has announced one of its most ambitious projects — the Mercedes-Benz SEC V12 Sledgehammer restomod. The car will be created based on the C126 coupe as a modern interpretation of the iconic “Hammer” versions from the late 1980s. This is reported by Carscoops.

The new model will be a tribute to the atmospheric V12 M120 series, which was once used in the racing CLK GTR and Pagani Zonda. Renntech has completely reworked the power unit, making it the key element of the project.

The restomod is based on a modernized V12 M120 with its displacement increased to 7.5 liters. The engine develops 660 hp and 881 Nm of torque. For a characteristic sound, engineers have developed special equal-length exhaust headers.

Information about the transmission has not been disclosed yet, but it is confirmed that the drive will remain rear-wheel. According to the company’s concept, the powertrain should combine classic character with modern dynamic capabilities.

The production of the SEC V12 Sledgehammer will be limited to only 12 units worldwide. Each car will receive a unique aggressive body kit with a new radiator grille, a redesigned hood, and significantly widened fenders. Forged wheels, upgraded brakes, a new rear bumper, a diffuser, and a pronounced spoiler to improve aerodynamics are also planned.

The interior has not been shown yet, but buyers will be offered fully individual configurations with various materials and finishes. The project’s cost has not been announced. The first customer car is planned to be completed in 2027.
