Starting tomorrow, March 5, AvtoVAZ is suspending production. The factories in Togliatti and Izhevsk will not operate at least until March 11, and possibly longer.
For reference: Lada Granta, Largus, XRAY, Niva Legend, and Niva Travel are produced in Togliatti, along with the assembly of Renault Logan and Sandero. The Izhevsk plant specializes in Lada Vesta.

The reason for the stoppage is a shortage of components. It is not hard to guess that the sanctions against Russia have led to the deficit. Strangely enough, in modern Lada models, 20 to 40% of the parts are imported – this was directly stated by the head of Renault Group Luca de Meo (as is well known, VAZ is owned by Renault).
Of course, AvtoVAZ is not the first Russian factory to stop. But it is the largest and, so to speak, a “national treasure”.
