In Kyiv (Malynska St., 1) a large car museum ‘Wheels of History’ has opened. Its collection includes over 100 vintage cars and motorcycles, as well as vintage household appliances. TopGear has already visited there and prepared a report. The museum was created by Kyiv collector and retro car restorer Pavlo Lozovenko, also known as the organizer of the OldCarLand festival. The war, of course, forced the museum’s opening to be postponed, but did not prevent the realization of the idea. The museum has plenty of rarities – for example, you can see ZIL-115 of the Soviet leader of Ukraine Shcherbitsky or the bus ZIL-118 ‘Youth’, which served the government’s dacha in Crimea during the times of Leonid Kuchma. There is also the so-called ‘catch-up car’ for the KGB – ‘Volga’ GAZ-23 with a 195-horsepower V8 and an automatic transmission from ‘Chaika’. The oldest exhibits are GAZ-A from 1932 and Buick Roadmaster from 1937. The exposition features many American cars from the 60s-90s – Oldsmobile Delta 88, Chevrolet Impala Chevelle and Caprice. There are luxurious Rolls-Royce Corniche and Silver Shadow, Czech Tatra 603, a couple of Opel Rekords. You can also see the ‘Tavria’ convertible, the export humpbacked ‘Zaporozhets’ named ‘Yalta’, fire motorcycle ‘Dnepr’. Visitors can admire black and white TVs and record players, as well as play on antique slot machines.
