Either due to lack of information or lack of common sense (or at least some), the Russians claimed that in June, the most popular new car in Ukraine was the Duster of Russian production.
Yes, in reality, last month, the Renault Duster turned out to be a bestseller on the primary market. But there is a nuance – the Russian-produced Duster was sold in Ukraine almost 10 (!) years ago, and it was not successful, so it was quickly withdrawn from sales. In 2014, it was replaced by a European modification, which is still sold in Ukraine (manufactured in Romania).
Moreover, even visually, the ‘Russian’ Duster always noticeably differed from what is sold in Ukraine. For example, the lights of the model for the Russian Federation – we never had those.
Also: in Ukraine, the second generation of the model has been sold since early 2018, while across the border, the first-generation crossover was on the market until 2021. This is not a joke – TopGir even wrote about it once.
And let’s not forget that the Renault plant in St. Petersburg stopped back in March, and it was there that Dusters were made, which is why they are currently in short supply even in the Russian market. But when and who from the Russian Federation has that ever bothered?
