by Students from the Kyiv Transport and Economic College will revive the sports heritage of the Zaporozhye Automobile Plant. Not all modern youth know interesting facts from ZAZ’s sports past, although once both Zaporozhets and Tavria participated in motorsport events! 
As you know, today AutoZAZ is more dead than alive. At least, if we are talking about the production of passenger cars. Nevertheless, there are enough craftsmen in Ukraine who give ZAZ cars a second or even a third life.
Just take the electric Zaporozhets that participated in the international run! 
As for this ZAZ, it will get a second life as a combat Zaporozhets, executed in the spirit of its long-standing ancestor that participated in the Acropolis Rally back in the USSR era. 
But the most pleasant and positive thing is that students, who are only learning the automotive trade, are taking care of bringing Zaporozhets to “its senses.” They not only want but can create interesting and technically correct vehicles with their own hands! 
As seen from the photo, the future rally Zaporozhets already has a safety frame, a relocated fuel tank, and a bucket seat. It is also noticeable that all sorts of parts that increase its mass have been removed from the car.
It will be exciting to see what the final result will look like, and how fast this replica of the race-era Zaporozhets will prove to be.
