Ukrainian amphibious vehicle ‘Bohun’ came to the aid of the victims of the flood in the Kherson region, which began after the explosion of the Kakhovska Hydropower Plant. The State Emergency Service rescuers used them to evacuate residents of the Kherson region. This is reported by Focus

“Bohun” amphibious vehicles are designed for use in flood conditions. They are designed to move through swamps, and they can also float.

For the State Emergency Service, ‘Bohun’ is equipped with a winch, chainsaws, a entrenching tool, as well as medical equipment, a navigation system and communication tools.

The explosion of the Kakhovska Hydropower Plant is not the first disaster in which ‘Bohun’ amphibious vehicles are used for disaster relief. The State Emergency Service has been operating them since 2020 and they have repeatedly rescued flood victims. Recently, ‘Bohun’ was tested by Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov.

Ukrainian amphibious vehicle ‘Bohun’ – features and characteristics

Snow swamp vehicle ‘Bohun’ – a modification of the famous Ukrainian Sherp amphibious vehicle . It reaches 3.4 m in length, but can accommodate up to 6 people, and there is also the possibility of transporting victims on stretchers.

Ukrainian amphibious vehicle is equipped with a 1.5-liter 44-horsepower Kubota diesel engine and a 5-speed manual transmission. The diameter of its wheels with low-pressure tires is 160 cm. ‘Bohun’ can accelerate up to 40 km/h on land and up to 6 km/h on water, as well as tow a 2.4-ton trailer. Fuel is enough for 15 hours of operation.
