In Ukraine, the first car on European plates was cleared under new rules

Yuzhanina’s laws came into effect on November 25, but only now has information come about the customs clearance of cars with European plates. According to SFS, the first ‘Euro-blokha’ received Ukrainian registration at the Chernivtsi customs. The first was a 2004 Renault Laguna with German plates. The amount of customs payments reached 49.3 thousand hryvnias. In particular, the duty (10%) amounted to 4.6 thousand hryvnias, the excise duty (with a 50% discount) – 28,765 hryvnias, and VAT (20%) – 15,957 hryvnias.

Based on the customs clearance sums, it can be calculated that the price of the 2004 Renault Laguna was 46 thousand hryvnias ($1,600). In addition, the owner paid an 8,500 hryvnia fine for violating the rules of stay for cars on European plates in Ukraine. Recall that after the transition period, fines will significantly increase and reach 34-170 thousand hryvnias.
