by An incredible Mercedes-Benz 540K Autobahn Kurier was spotted in Kyiv. Only two of these coupes were produced in 1938, and they are now worth millions. Essentially, it is the first supercar in Mercedes history.
Let us note immediately that this is not an original Mercedes 540K, but a very well-made replica. Moreover, it was built in Ukraine – the work of craftsmen from Kramatorsk, who also recreated the equally stunning roadster Mercedes SSK of 1930.
The streamlined Mercedes coupe looks very impressive and precisely repeats the original. It is definitely one of the coolest retro cars in Ukraine. Its specifications are unknown, but the real Autobahn Kurier was equipped with a 5.4-liter supercharged eight-cylinder engine producing 180 hp.
The 2.5-ton vehicle could reach 185 km/h. For its time, it was truly a supercar, as very few achieved such speeds in the 1930s.
