Why the Volvo S90 is Better than Mercedes, BMW, and Audi

Volvo has seriously undertaken the update of its model lineup. First, the seven-seater crossover Volvo XC90 appeared. Then the new Volvo S90 sedan and the Volvo V90 station wagon became available on the market. In this class, German cars like the Audi A6, BMW 5 Series, and Mercedes-Benz E-Class traditionally have the most popularity. But the new Volvo has something to oppose them with.

So here are 7 reasons why it’s better to buy a Volvo than its German competitors.

1. The new Volvo S90 and V90 are attractive from the outside

Aggressiveness is often exploited in the E-class. Just take the 2016 Lexus GS sedan, for instance. Volvo contrasts this with a restrained and distinctively Swedish minimalist design. Yet, there are memorable details. The Volvo S90 sedan and its V90 station wagon counterpart feature very original headlights.

The T-shaped LEDs are called “Thor’s Hammer” by the Swedes.

2. The Volvo S90 does not try to be a sports sedan

The BMW 5, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and Audi A6 emphasize dynamics and handling. The new Volvo does not try to catch up with them. The Volvo S90 sedan has different priorities – comfort, safety, and good road grip. This matters greatly on the roads in Ukraine. Swedes believe that drivers should relax behind the wheel of the Volvo S90 2016.

Although, there is always the option to choose the R Design sports package.

3. Volvo Power Pulse Technology

The Volvo D5 diesel engine with a power of 235 hp is equipped with the original Power Pulse system. Volvo engineers overcame turbo lag with a simple solution. A compressor fills a special chamber with air. When needed, this air is injected into the exhaust manifold to help the turbo spin up. Thanks to Power Pulse, the new Volvo S90 D5 accelerates to 100 km/h a second faster – in 6.2 seconds.

4. Leaf Spring

No, Volvo has not become a downshifter.

The composite leaf spring in the rear suspension plays an important role. It replaces the Volvo’s suspension springs. This increases the luggage space. In the Volvo V90 station wagon, its volume is 560-1526 liters.

5. Safety of the Volvo S90 and V90

Volvo has long established safety as a cult. Of course, the Volvo S90 and V90 are equipped with a set of airbags and a strong body structure.

Also, there’s the Run Off Road Mitigation technology. It steers the car and prevents it from running off the road into a ditch. And the Large Animal Detection applies emergency braking if it detects a moose or deer crossing the road.

6. Autonomy

Autonomous driving is a new trend in the industry. The Pilot Assist system is capable of independently keeping the new Volvo in the lane and slowing down before obstacles. In Ukraine, though, this option is not always useful.

Not all of our roads have the necessary markings.

7. Luxurious interior of the Volvo S90 and V90

The materials of the new Volvo’s interior finish are top-notch. Especially in the more expensive configuration options. The highlight of the Volvo S90 and V90 is the large 9.5-inch multimedia display. What’s missing in Volvo? Well, perhaps a concierge service like trust.in.ua wouldn’t hurt.
