Eight-passenger 1966 Mustang has rear doors that were once front doors

Classic 1966 Ford Mustang turned into a limousine

Typically, vehicles like the Chrysler 300C or Hummer H3 are used to create limousines. However, this project took a completely different path.

The owner of this 1966 Ford Mustang decided that a classic coupe would make an excellent limousine. The result of this unusual decision is now looking for a new owner. Although it is painful to see the first generation Mustang in such a fate, it can be assumed that many wedding companies would eagerly book it for a day.

The transformation story

According to the listing on Bring a Trailer, the conversion took place sometime before 2000. The chassis was lengthened, and new thick B-pillars were added to support the structure. Rear doors also appeared, which are essentially front doors installed in reverse.

In addition to the body changes, the car received a special vinyl roof and was repainted in its current turquoise color about eight years ago. It also sits on 17-inch wheels with Armstrong tires, features improved front brakes, and pneumatic shock absorbers on the rear axle.

Interior and technical specifications

The exterior underwent significant changes, but the front part of the interior remained nearly original, with classic instruments. The rear section features two rows of seats facing each other, upholstered in white-blue fabric combined with blue carpets. The car can accommodate up to eight passengers, including the driver.

Under the hood is a 289 cubic inch V8 engine, which, according to the seller, was rebuilt about eight years ago. There is no information on the engine’s power or the limousine’s weight, but it is known that torque is transmitted to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission.

Unique offering

Whether you collect Ford Mustangs and have a weakness for truly strange items, or you are looking for an unconventional way to start your own limousine rental business, this car offers something few can provide. The auction is ongoing on Bring a Trailer.

This unusual car is a vivid example of how classic models can gain a second life in the most unexpected forms. Although lengthening the body and adding doors drastically changed the Mustang’s original design, such a modification makes it a unique exhibit for car enthusiasts who appreciate non-standard solutions. It is worth noting that such conversions often spark debate among purists, but at the same time, they attract the attention of a wide audience, demonstrating a creative approach to automotive culture.
