If buyers react as Bentley expects, this SUV could go into series production

Bentley presents the Bentayga X raised SUV concept

Bentley has decided to test its luxurious Bentayga SUV in real off-road conditions by presenting a concept car called the Bentayga X. This is a more robust, taller, and wider version of the already powerful Bentayga Speed, which could herald a series-production model with enhanced off-road capability.

The main features of the concept are:

Serious changes for real off-roading

According to the manufacturer, this concept aims to explore the possibilities of creating a more specialized off-road vehicle. The company is studying the market to understand if there is demand among affluent clients for a vehicle for real adventures. Given the current trend for “prepared” SUVs, this seems like a completely logical step.

The changes made are not merely cosmetic. Ground clearance has been increased by 55 mm, the track width has grown by 120 mm, and forged 22-inch wheels are fitted with aggressive off-road tires. The wheel arches have been widened, suspension travel has been increased, and the wading depth exceeds half a meter.

Adventure equipment and power

The concept’s roof is equipped with spotlights and storage organizers for belongings during long trips far from asphalt. Interestingly, the concept even carries a small electric kart for ice adventures on its roof.

Technically, the car retains the air suspension and an active anti-roll stabilization system. The titanium sports exhaust system, connected to the familiar 4.0-liter V8 gasoline engine producing 641 horsepower, has also been kept, ensuring a powerful sound even during an off-road excursion.

The future of the concept and the possibility of series production

The Bentayga X concept will make its public debut at the FAT Ice Race festival in Austria. However, the main question is what will happen next with this project. If public reaction is enthusiastic, which is quite likely, it would be no surprise if a series-production Bentayga with genuine off-road qualities appears in the future.

The concept “was developed to stimulate and gather feedback on creating a Bentayga with enhanced off-road capability.”

There is speculation that Bentley has already given the green light for series production of the X version, and this concept merely serves as a reconnaissance mission to gauge demand. The only questions are how quickly this could happen and what the final specification of the car will be for buyers seeking luxury not only on asphalt but also far beyond its limits.

The emergence of such a concept clearly indicates the expansion of the ultra-luxury SUV market, where not only an interior with expensive materials but also genuine technical ability to overcome difficult terrain is becoming important. This may encourage other premium segment manufacturers to conduct similar experiments, blurring the lines between luxurious urban vehicles and specialized off-road machinery.
