The highly anticipated Tesla Model Y premiered in California. The affordable Tesla electric crossover will be available for purchase starting from the end of 2020.
The new Tesla Model Y 2020 is built on the Model 3 platform and maintains the brand’s traditional style. It also features a noticeable coupe-like profile. However, the Model Y does not have the upward-opening “falcon wing” doors.
The cabin configuration is also familiar from the Tesla Model 3. All readings are displayed on a single 15-inch display. A smartphone is used instead of a key to access the interior.
Five- and seven-seat modifications are promised. With the rear seats folded, the trunk volume is 1900 liters.
Four modifications of the Tesla Model Y 2020 will be offered for selection:
Standard Range ($39k) – 5.9 seconds to 100 km/h, maximum speed 193 km/h, range – 370 km. Long Range ($47k) – 5.5 seconds to 100 km/h, maximum speed 210 km/h, range – 483 km. Dual Motor AWD ($51k) – 4.8 seconds to 100 km/h, maximum speed 217 km/h, all-wheel drive, range – 450 km. Performance ($60k) – 3.5 seconds to 100 km/h, maximum speed 240 km/h, all-wheel drive, range – 450 km.
All versions, except the base one, will be available for sale from the start, while the cheapest Standard Range will become available in 2021.
