Geely’s New Sedan Shows Off AMG Teeth And Infiniti Eyes

You’d think we’ve moved past the era of familiar-looking design “inspiration” in the automotive space. And yet, here we are. The latest electrified sedan from Geely’s Galaxy series shows up looking like it lost its way after leaving a Mercedes-AMG photo shoot.

Named the Geely Galaxy Star 6, the upcoming sedan is set to launch in China soon. According to Geely, the sedan adopts the “Galaxy Ripple” styling language, but it seems that originality was not the priority – at least not when it comes to the front end design.

Have I Seen You Somewhere?

Take away the emblem and you have a blatant copy of the Mercedes-AMG Panamericana grille, infused with chrome. The same applies to the bumper intakes that look very similar to the Mercedes C-Class with the AMG Line package. On the other hand, the aggressive headlights are clearly inspired by the Infiniti Q50, albeit with more modern LED graphics.

Moving to the side profile, the Galaxy Star 6 shares its overall shape with the Geely Xingrui L Zhiqing introduced in 2023. However, it adds a touch more polish through sculpted panels and a set of 17-inch alloy wheels. The rear design is less distinctive, featuring a wide LED taillight strip and a minimal diffuser treatment.

Interior Still Under Wraps

While the official website doesn’t include photos of the interior, we expect a familiar digital cockpit, in line with the vast majority of electrified models from China.

According to filings with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Galaxy Star 6 measures 4,806 mm (189.2 inches) in length, 1,886 mm (74.3 inches) in width, and 1,490 mm (58.7 inches) in height. Its wheelbase stretches 2,756 mm (108.5 inches). That makes it slightly more compact than the Galaxy A7, which is 112 mm (4.4 inches) longer overall and gains 89 mm (3.5 inches) in wheelbase.

The company has yet to share the technical specifications of the sedan, but it is expected to borrow the Thor EM-i super hybrid powertrain from the Galaxy A7. That system includes a 1.5-liter gasoline engine, one electric motor, and two battery size options.

Geely is already inviting test drive registrations and is expected to reveal more details in the coming weeks. Pricing will slot below the Galaxy A7, which currently ranges from ¥81,800 to ¥117,800 (roughly $11,400 to $16,500 USD), depending on the configuration.
