A rare 1993 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 3.8 has been put up for auction in Monterey in 2026. The iconic coupe is expected to fetch between $2 and $2.5 million. The car has been preserved in almost factory condition and has covered only 6,825 km in 33 years. In 2018, it was purchased at auction for $1.6 million. RM Sotheby’s reports.

The model was created as a homologation version for the racing Porsche 3.8 RSR. Only 55 units were produced, 52 of which had left-hand drive. This particular car was one of the last Carrera RS 3.8s assembled and received a body in the signature Speed Yellow color.

The coupe is built on the 964 generation platform and is equipped with a naturally aspirated 3.8-liter flat-six engine. To reduce weight, Porsche used aluminum doors and hood, thinner glass, and lighter interior components. The model lacks sound insulation, power seats, and air conditioning.

The car was originally built for the Japanese market. It features a black and gray interior, sport seats with body-colored inserts, and yellow pull straps instead of classic door handles.

In 2015, the coupe was imported into the United States under the special Show and Display program. The current example has an original matching-numbers powertrain, a complete set of documentation, and factory accessories, including tools, a spare wheel, and even unused Porsche gloves. Before the sale, the car also underwent technical maintenance by a certified Porsche specialist.
