A rare second-generation Saab 9-5 from 2011 was photographed in Kyiv. The model is one of the last cars of the Swedish brand produced before the bankruptcy of Saab Automobile. The photos were published on the Instagram account @t.o.p.c.a.r.s_u.a.

The YS3G generation sedan is a great rarity even in Europe. From 2010 to 2012, the company managed to produce only 11,280 such cars.

The specimen spotted in the capital is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged BioPower petrol engine. The engine power is 223 hp, and the torque is 350 Nm.

According to factory specifications, the Saab 9-5 can accelerate to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds, and the top speed reaches 240 km/h.

The model was built on the GM Epsilon II platform, which was also used by the Opel Insignia and Buick Regal. At the same time, the Saab received a completely unique body design and interior with characteristic aviation elements.

One of the model’s features was the instrument panel with green backlighting and a Start button between the seats — a hallmark of Saab cars.

The second generation 9-5 debuted in 2009 at the Frankfurt Motor Show and was intended to become the brand’s new flagship. The car received the DriveSense adaptive suspension, modern safety systems, and premium equipment.

However, Saab’s financial problems prevented the model from becoming a mass-market success. Already in 2011, production began to halt due to the company’s debts, and in 2012 the brand effectively ceased to exist.

Today, the last-generation Saab 9-5 is considered a collector’s model. Due to the small production run and short production period, such cars are rarely seen on the roads, especially in Ukraine.
