Starting August 22, new fines for violations of transit and temporary importation rules for vehicles come into effect in Ukraine. As is known, they couldn’t be postponed again.
Recall that for exceeding the allowed transit or temporary importation period by 20-30 days, the fine will be 85 thousand hryvnias, and more than 30 days – already 170 thousand hryvnias (or confiscation of the car with European license plates). In addition, a fine of 34 thousand hryvnias is introduced for transferring an uncustomized car to another person or using it for commercial purposes. Owners of cars with European license plates have repeatedly asked to defer the introduction of fines once again, but the old composition of the Verkhovna Rada did not do so, and the new parliament will only convene on August 29.
However, it is very likely that deputies will make concessions to the “euro-license” owners. Deputy Head of the President’s Office Ruslan Ryaboshapka stated that this issue will be considered at the very first meeting of the Rada. The President’s Office plans to postpone the fines again for 3 months, and during this time a new customs law will be prepared. Nevertheless, fines remain in effect for now.
