Who and How Protects the Motorcade of the President of Ukraine and What Cars Are Included

We have repeatedly written about Petro Poroshenko’s cars. Now we’ll tell you about the president’s updated vehicle fleet.

Detailed photos of the motorcade’s vehicles were sent to us by our regular reader Voldemar, who previously provided us with pictures of Poroshenko’s cars. So, although the president in the regions still travels in a Mercedes-Benz S-Class W221, in Kyiv and the surrounding area, he already uses a newer Mercedes S-Class W222. As before, there are two such cars in the motorcade.

Voldemar also told us about the motorcade itself. It travels in the following order:

– A signal vehicle, ahead of the motorcade by 2-3 minutes;

– The leading vehicle of the police special unit;

– Two presidential cars;

– State Security Department vehicle;

– Police special unit vehicle;

– ‘Jammer car’ with special devices on the roof;

– Vehicle of the State Affairs Department;

– Two police cars;

– State Security Department car;

– Ambulance.

In total, there are 12 vehicles, which is more than European leaders, but much less than, for example, Donald Trump. Considering the situation in the country, this is tolerable, especially since now the passage of the presidential motorcade doesn’t lead to half of Kyiv being blocked, as it did during Yanukovych’s time.
