Attention Hyundai Owners: Choose Parking Spots for Electric Vehicles Carefully

Hyundai Recalls Electric Vehicles Due to Fire Risk

Hyundai has announced a recall of some 2025 Ioniq 5 electric vehicles in the United States due to a potential fire hazard. The issue is related to unreliable fastening of the tire bolts in the battery, which could lead to a short circuit. According to the manufacturer’s estimates, only 10 vehicles require repair.

Owners are advised not to park near buildings or other vehicles until the repair work is completed. Although no fire incidents have been reported so far, there is a risk that over time the bolts could loosen, causing an electrical arc or putting the vehicle into emergency mode.

Cause of the Problem

A terminal plate is a metal plate that connects individual battery cells. Hyundai discovered that, due to a malfunction in the torque control system, some bolts were not tightened sufficiently. This problem was identified during a routine battery inspection.

What Owners Should Do

Hyundai recommends that owners contact a dealer to have the bolts tightened. Until the repair is completed, it is advisable to carefully choose a parking spot to avoid potential consequences should any issues arise.

This situation once again highlights the importance of manufacturing quality in electric vehicle battery systems. Even a minor technical error can lead to serious consequences, which is why manufacturers continue to improve their control processes. Hyundai’s swift response to the problem demonstrates a responsible approach to customer safety.
