Nismo Performance Centers will appear outside Japan for the first time. The first such center will open in Australia, near Melbourne. Specialists with Nismo factory certification will service the legendary Skyline R32, R33, and R34 models.
Australia becomes the first market for Nismo expansion
Few markets outside Japan value Nissan’s sporting heritage as much as Australia. Iconic models, primarily the Skyline GT-R, have long enjoyed immense popularity here. This is because these cars were sold new, rather than entering the country as ‘gray’ imports, as was the case in the USA. Given this history, it is entirely logical that Australia will become one of the first countries outside Japan to have its own Nismo Performance Centers.
The first center and its capabilities
The first such center will open in the second half of 2026 at the Nissan Ferntree Gully dealership, located approximately 45 minutes’ drive southeast of Melbourne’s central business district. This facility will become a direct channel to the legendary Omori Factory in Japan. It will provide access to original parts, restoration services, and the level of factory expertise that was previously almost impossible to obtain locally.

Nissan plans to open several more Nismo centers across Australia, including in Sydney, Brisbane, and Perth. These facilities will employ factory-certified Nismo technicians who have experience working with the brand’s most famous models, including the Skyline GT-R R32, R33, and R34.
Preserving legends
“NISMO is one of the most authentic expressions of Nissan’s passion for performance, innovation, and customer excitement,” said Nissan CEO Ivan Espinosa. “As we develop our long-term vision of mobile intelligence for everyday life, we will continue to offer our customers new experiences. Expanding the NISMO brand in markets like Australia is an important step in creating exciting experiences for customers who value performance and authenticity.”
These centers will provide support both for iconic Nissan models that have spent their entire lives in Australia and for those privately imported by enthusiasts from Japan. Now, finding restored factory parts for these cars should become significantly easier.
Nissan announced the opening of local Nismo Performance Centers during the annual GT-R festival at Sydney Dragway this past weekend. President and CEO of Nissan Motorsports & Customizing, as well as global head of the Nismo brand, Yutaka Sanada, attended the event.
This company decision is a logical continuation of the strategy to support its historical heritage. For the Australian market, where the Skyline GT-R holds a special status, the emergence of official Nismo service centers will be a real event. It will not only make life easier for owners of these cars but also strengthen the bond between the brand and its most devoted fans. It is worth noting that such an initiative could set a precedent for other markets where Japanese sports cars are popular, as the demand for professional service and original parts for classic models is growing worldwide.
