Incredibly rare BMW M3 with only 86 miles
Last month, a black BMW E92 M3 sold in the United States for a near-unbelievable $205,392, despite being a standard model rather than a limited edition of the legendary V8. Now a second E92 has appeared, and this one has every chance of becoming a record-breaker.
The bright Fire Orange paint instantly reveals the car’s belonging to the rare Lime Rock Park Edition, one of only 200 cars built for North America in 2013. This is, without a doubt, the most collectible variant of the V8-powered generation. The example on offer has a clean Carfax report, a clean Florida title, and an odometer showing 86 miles (138 km). Just eighty-six.
The perfect M3?
Listed for sale on Bring a Trailer by EAG, an expert and price-setter in the BMW M world, the car includes the Competition Package, which lowered the ride height compared to the standard M3, adding recalibrated dampers and a stability system. The original 19-inch silver wheels have been preserved, as have the large brakes.
As expected from a car that has been driven so little, this M3 is truly like new. Not only does the exterior look like it just left the factory, but the interior is immaculate. In fact, the floor mats are still wrapped in plastic, and the airbag warning sticker is still on the dashboard.
Key features include an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats trimmed in leather and cloth, and carbon fiber accents on the dashboard and doors.
Maintenance and condition
Although the listing does not provide a detailed ownership history or service records for the 2013 M3, it underwent its 10-year maintenance service and inspection at EAG in April. This included changing the engine oil, brake fluid, coolant, and differential fluid, as well as recharging and leak-testing the air conditioning system.
Modern collector culture has reached a level where a BMW with delivery-mileage is perceived like an unboxed action figure for wealthy adults. Nevertheless, a Lime Rock Park Edition with 86 miles is something that makes E92 enthusiasts fall into a financial frenzy. At the time of publication, the highest bid had reached $200,000, with nearly a day left until the auction ended. It will be interesting to see how high the price of this example climbs.
This case clearly demonstrates how the collector car market continues to grow, especially when it comes to rare versions of iconic models. Despite the E92 M3 not being the most expensive or the most powerful car in history, its naturally aspirated V8 and limited production make it a desirable object for investors and enthusiasts. A sale for over $200,000 underscores that for true collectors, “as-new” condition and rarity are paramount, turning an ordinary car into a real treasure.
