Mercedes Updates the C-Class Estate
BMW is preparing to launch the new 3-Series in 2026, and Mercedes is responding to this challenge by updating its C-Class—one of the brand’s most popular models. In addition to the electric version, which will debut for the first time, the update will also affect conventional models with internal combustion engines.
Exterior Changes
The main changes will affect the headlights, bumpers, and radiator grille. The front headlights have received the characteristic Mercedes LED daytime running lights in a star shape. However, the rear lights currently do not have a similar design. This may be a temporary solution for test models, but Mercedes has additionally camouflaged the rear lights, which arouses curiosity.
The official presentation is expected to take place at the end of 2025 or the beginning of 2026.
Interior and Technology Updates
The interior will receive an updated MBUX system, as well as improved driver assistance systems. This will allow it to compete with the new BMW 3-Series, which will go on sale next year.
Hybrid Versions
The test model has an “EQ” badge on the front fenders, but it is not a full electric vehicle, but a plug-in hybrid. In Europe, the C300e version with a range of 66 miles (106 km) according to the WLTP standard is already available. After the update, this figure may increase, making the model even more attractive for those switching to electric vehicles.
Mercedes traditionally emphasizes technological innovations, and the updated C-Class will be no exception. Given the competition from BMW, the German brand is betting on a combination of classic design with modern technology, which may interest both brand loyalists and new buyers.
