Premiere of the Continental GT Supersports
Bentley has introduced the most driver-focused version of the new rear-wheel-drive Continental GT. The Supersports model weighs less than 2 tons and is equipped with a non-hybrid twin-turbocharged V8 engine. The car has also received a seriously redesigned aerodynamic package and a more aggressive chassis setup.
Idea and Creation History
The concept, named “Project Mildred,” emerged from a small engineering team that envisioned creating a rear-wheel-drive Continental GT weighing less than two tons. After testing the prototype on the track, its dynamics and handling convinced the company to launch the model into series production. The car’s debut coincided with the 100th anniversary of the first Super Sports model appearing in 1925.
Technical Specifications
The model is fitted with a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that produces 666 hp (657 bhp / 490 kW) and 800 Nm of torque. This is 114 hp and 200 Nm less than the hybrid system of the Continental GT Speed. The Supersports accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 310 km/h. Although it is inferior to previous generations with W12 engines, Bentley engineers focused on ensuring maximum connection between the driver and the car.
Transmission and Chassis
Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via an updated eight-speed ZF gearbox and an electronic limited-slip differential with torque vectoring and rear suspension. The chassis was completely redesigned with unique settings for the air suspension, steering, and electronic systems.
Aerodynamics and Exterior
The rear-wheel-drive model received significant aerodynamic improvements, 22-inch forged wheels developed in collaboration with Manthey Racing, the world’s largest carbon-ceramic brakes (440 mm front), and a louder titanium exhaust system from Akrapovic. For even better grip, the standard Pirelli P-Zero tires can be replaced with high-performance Trofeo RS tires.
Weight Reduction
The removal of hybrid components and all-wheel drive, the absence of a rear sofa, reduced sound insulation, a carbon fiber roof, fewer driver assistance systems, and other measures have made the Supersports the first Continental GT weighing less than 2 tons and the lightest Bentley in the last 85 years.
Design and Interior
Externally, the Supersports is distinguished by a redesigned front bumper with integrated cooling channels and anti-lift wings, side sills, a vented rear bumper, and a “ducktail” spoiler. The aerodynamic element kit also includes a radiator grille with a laser mesh and a more pronounced diffuser with titanium tips. According to Bentley, the new aerodynamics generate 300 kg more downforce compared to the Continental GT Speed.
The interior features two lightweight sports seats with 11-way electric adjustment and heating function. Behind them is a carbon fiber platform upholstered in leather. The sporty character is emphasized by carbon fiber inserts, Supersports embroidery, and a numbered plaque on the center console. Furthermore, buyers can personalize the car through the Mulliner department.
Limited Series and Prices
Chairman and CEO of Bentley, Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser, noted:
The new Supersports is not just the most driver-focused Bentley model. It symbolizes a return to creating more extreme cars — those that combine incredible capabilities with genuine driving pleasure, while remaining unique works of automotive art for each client.
Orders for the Continental GT Supersports will begin to be accepted from March 2026, and production will start in the fourth quarter of the same year. The first deliveries are scheduled for early 2027. The company will release only 500 units for buyers in the UK, Europe, Turkey, the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Oman, Bahrain, the UAE, Qatar, and Kuwait.
This model demonstrates a shift in emphasis in Bentley’s strategy — instead of absolute speed figures, the driving experience has become the priority. The rejection of hybridization and all-wheel drive indicates the brand’s desire to return to the classic values of sports cars, where weight distribution and steering purity are crucial. The limited series and exclusivity could make the Supersports a collector’s item among brand enthusiasts.
