Armored Land Rover Defender Octa by Inkas
Potential for Armoring
The Land Rover Defender Octa is already considered one of the most powerful and formidable off-road vehicles on the market, combining a robust design, outstanding capabilities, and the powerful sound of a V8 engine. Does this make it a candidate for an armored car? Probably not. But if you are already driving something that seems capable of leveling a small village, then adding protection from bullets and grenade explosions only enhances that image.
Implementation of the Idea
This task was taken on by the Canadian company Inkas from Toronto, which transformed the Octa into an armored fortress. The result is the 2025 model – the Armored Defender Octa Edition One, certified to the BR6 protection standard. In practical terms, this means the vehicle can withstand continuous firing from a 7.62 mm caliber rifle and the explosion of up to two DM51 hand grenades without losing functionality.
Armor Details
From a distance, the armored Defender Octa looks almost identical to the standard model. Upon closer inspection, steel armored elements under the side sills with the Inkas logo are noticeable, which are part of the 360-degree ballistic protection that covers the cabin, roof, and floor.
The off-roader also received multi-layer ballistic glass on all windows, reinforced hinges, and overlapping armored door seams designed to eliminate weak spots where bullets could penetrate. The fuel tank is protected by a reinforced casing, and special protective wheels with polycarbonate inserts ensure mobility even after tire punctures.
Interior and Additional Options
Inside, Inkas left almost everything unchanged, preserving the forged carbon elements and technological features of the Octa version. Among the additional options are an oxygen filtration system, a door opening assistance mechanism, additional cameras, night vision, LED strobe lights, a siren, an intercom, and an emergency roof hatch.
Power and Speed
The most powerful version of the Defender is equipped with a 4.4-liter bi-turbo V8 engine that produces 626 hp and 749 Nm of torque. The standard model accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds, although the armored version will be slightly slower due to the additional weight.
Cost
The Inkas Armored Defender Octa Edition One is already available for order, but its price has not been disclosed. Owners can choose the level of armor that suits their needs or apply similar modifications to other variants of the off-roader. For comparison, the standard Octa starts from $158,300 in the US, and the dark Octa Black version starts from $168,700. However, considering the ballistic improvements, it can be assumed that the final cost will be significantly higher.
This project demonstrates how modern technologies allow combining luxury and safety in one vehicle. The armored Defender Octa not only retains its off-road qualities but also becomes an ideal choice for those who value protection in extreme conditions. This approach could become a trend for manufacturers seeking to meet the demand for highly secure vehicles without compromises in design and performance.
