Tacoma Prices Are Rising Again, But Toyota Is Trying to Soften the Blow

Updates and Changes to the Model

The Toyota Tacoma, which is the most popular mid-size pickup in the USA, has received a number of updates for the 2026 model year. Unfortunately, along with these changes, the prices have also increased. The base version now costs $32,145, to which a destination fee of $1,595 is added.

Compared to the previous year, when the base model cost $31,590, this represents an increase of $555. However, buyers of the base SR XtraCab trim now receive a standard tow hitch, which makes this price increase quite justified, considering that last year’s towing package cost $540.

Among other changes is an updated grille for the TRD Off-Road, TRD Sport, and TRD PreRunner versions, where the chrome Toyota logo has been replaced with a black one.

Additional Improvements and New Colors

The TRD Off-Road i-Force trim with the premium package is now equipped with 18-inch TRD wheels and 32-inch off-road Goodyear tires.

Two new body colors have also appeared: Heritage Blue, available for a range of trims, and the exclusive Wave Maker, which is offered for the TRD Pro version.

Price Dynamics and Available Configurations

Most of the 2026 Tacoma variants have become slightly more expensive. For example, the SR5 increased by $15, the PreRunner by $215. The Limited, Trailhunter, and TRD Pro trims also increased by $215.

The pickup is offered in two cab configurations – XtraCab and DoubleCab – with short (5 feet) and long (6 feet) cargo beds. It is equipped with a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, whose power reaches 278 hp and torque 318 lb-ft.

Most versions have an eight-speed automatic transmission, but a six-speed manual is also available.

Hybrid Version and Sales Plans

Buyers can choose the i-Force Max hybrid powertrain, which delivers 326 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque. It is paired exclusively with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

Deliveries of the 2026 Toyota Tacoma to the American market will begin in the fall, and the online configurator is already available for customers.

These changes underscore the constant evolution of the model, which remains the leader in its segment. Despite the slight price increase, the additional standard equipment makes the purchase more cost-effective. Competition in the mid-size pickup market remains high, so such updates help the Tacoma maintain its appeal among buyers looking for reliability, functionality, and modern technology.
