Restored Toyota Corolla with unusual modifications
The ordinary Toyota Corolla is often associated with a boring compact car, but this particular example is designed to change that perception. The second-generation Corolla Coupe has been transformed into a true driver’s car that promises driving pleasure.
This model is likely one of the few remaining on U.S. roads. It is equipped with a naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine from the Japanese market, combining a 3T block, 2T-G cylinder head, and dual Mikuni carburetors. Although the exact power figures are unknown, what matters more is that the engine is paired with a five-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive.
Technical details and design
The car is equipped with adjustable shock absorbers, lower control arms, camber plates, and new tie rods. Stabilizer bars and stylish Enkei wheels have also been installed. The body was fully restored, and the paintwork was done in a premium Lexus color.
The interior was updated with a Momo Prototipo steering wheel, a Momo gear shift lever, and a combination upholstery of fabric and faux leather.
This Corolla isn’t built to win races, but it offers a unique driving experience that cannot be replicated in modern cars. It serves as a fresh contrast to today’s heavy, electronics-laden models.
Restored classic cars like this Corolla remind us of an era when driving was more mechanical and direct. They are becoming increasingly rare, making them especially valuable to collectors and enthusiasts. Today, such projects are not just cars but true art objects with a history.
