Gran Turismo 7 Adds a Chinese-Made Car for the First Time

A Historic Achievement for the Chinese Auto Industry

Despite several years having passed since the release of Gran Turismo 7, the game continues to evolve. The version 1.67 software update, released in January, might seem minor, but it marks a truly historic moment. For the first time in the franchise’s long history, a Chinese car will join the game’s vehicle lineup.

This milestone belongs to the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, which will appear on January 29th. Its inclusion is a significant step not only for the Gran Turismo series but also for China’s rapidly growing automotive industry. And it’s not coming alone; two other serious, track-oriented cars are being added alongside it.

Xiaomi Reaches a New Level

Xiaomi is best known worldwide for its smartphones and consumer electronics, yet its entry into the high-performance electric vehicle market has been notable. The SU7 Ultra is the pinnacle of these efforts, combining cutting-edge electric performance with design and specifications clearly aimed at competing with European and other manufacturers.

Its appearance in Gran Turismo 7 is a major event for Xiaomi, as it signifies recognition in one of the most important automotive gaming franchises of all time. Gran Turismo has introduced millions of car enthusiasts to vehicles they never even knew existed. Undoubtedly, more people will now learn about and become familiar with the SU7 than ever before.

What Else is New in the Update

In addition, the Porsche 911 992 GT3 R will appear in the game. Built specifically for GT3 racing, this is the second such car in recent updates. In December, fans gained access to the Ferrari 296 GT3. Now they will have a worthy competitor to battle against.

The Hyundai Elantra N TC is also being added. This will be a great addition to another new feature – the Hyundai N Collection in the Gran Turismo Cafe menu.

New Tracks and Locations

Three new World Touring Car events are also being added to the game: World Touring Car 600 at the Nürburgring, World Touring Car 700 at Spa-Francorchamps, and World Touring Car 800 at Mount Panorama in Australia.

Fans are also getting a new photo location in the USA called California Roadsides. Modeled after Walnut Ave in Huntington Beach, the location gives players the opportunity to take photos in one of the country’s iconic cities. It’s one way to get a photo of the SU7 in the States.
