Honda releases a new limited Prelude in deep red tones

Honda has unveiled a special 2027 Prelude Limited Edition for Japan

Honda is trying to revive buyer interest in the Prelude model in Japan by introducing a new 2027 Limited Edition version. This hybrid coupe features a unique dark red body color and matching interior accents, with no changes to the technical specifications.

The Prelude was launched on the Japanese market in September 2025, and the ON Limited Edition version combined Moonlit Pearl color with a black roof, mirrors, and alloy wheels. Less than a year later, Honda introduces the 2027 Limited Edition with more appealing features.

Exterior and Design

The exterior of the new version is painted in Premium Crystal Garnet Metallic, a color previously unavailable for the Prelude. This is combined with a matching radiator grille molding, red accents on the bumpers (instead of the standard blue ones), and familiar 19-inch alloy wheels with Machined Black Clear finish and red Brembo brakes.

Interior and Trim

The cabin also received special treatment: Bordeaux-colored inserts on the front seats, center console, and dashboard. The rest of the upholstery is black leather with contrasting Bordeaux stitching. Additionally, the embroidered Prelude logo on the passenger side dashboard is now red instead of white.

Technical Specifications

Mechanically, the 2027 Limited Edition version has the same hybrid powertrain and chassis as the standard Prelude. A two-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors together produce 200 hp (149 kW / 203 PS), sending power to the front wheels. The proprietary Honda S+Shift system simulates gear changes by adjusting torque and using sound effects for a more engaging drive.

Price and Availability

The special 2027 Honda Prelude Limited Edition is already available for order in Japan, with deliveries to dealers scheduled for August 20th. The price of the special model is ¥6,306,300 ($39,300), which is ¥126,500 ($800) more expensive than the standard Prelude.

Honda has not yet disclosed information about availability for other markets, so we must wait to see if the new color scheme will appear in North America for the 2027 model year.

This update shows that Honda continues to maintain interest in its hybrid model by offering limited series with unique designs. Although the car is technically unchanged, such special versions often attract collectors and enthusiasts who appreciate exclusivity. It is worth noting that the price of $39,300 makes the Prelude Limited Edition quite expensive for its class, but this may be justified by the limited production run and unique style. The future of the model in other markets, particularly the US, remains uncertain, which may indicate Honda’s cautious strategy regarding the global distribution of this hybrid coupe.
