Bugatti is preparing a new unique hypercar based on the Chiron
While Bugatti is finalizing the development of the Tourbillon model, which is set to become the long-awaited successor to the iconic Chiron, information has emerged about a new unique car. The French brand is working on yet another exclusive project within its Programme Solitaire division.
Capabilities of the Solitaire division
This division is capable of producing only two cars per year. It presented its first model last August — a unique Brouillard built on the basis of the Chiron. About half a year after its launch, the Bugatti FKP Hommage appeared — a modern interpretation of the Veyron model.
According to The Supercar Blog, the new Solitaire creation will again be based on the Chiron but will draw design inspiration from the new Tourbillon, as well as from the limited-edition Bolide — Bugatti’s wild track monster.
Design and inspiration
Although there are no images of the car yet, it is not hard to imagine what it might look like. The Tourbillon features all the iconic Bugatti elements, including the signature horseshoe-shaped grille and the “C” line on both sides. In contrast, the Bolide looks completely different from the Chiron on which it was based, having a significantly more aggressive body aimed at maximum downforce. The combination of the Bolide’s radical forms with the elegant lines of the Tourbillon should make this unique car absolutely spectacular.
W16 engine
Since the car will be based on the Chiron, it will become one of the last Bugatti models equipped with the legendary 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 engine. It is worth noting that the Mistral was considered the last Bugatti with such an engine, but it was introduced before the creation of the Solitaire division. The company has clearly recognized the growing demand for unique hypercars, as evidenced by recent individual projects from Pagani and Koenigsegg.
It is expected that this special Bugatti could be unveiled at the end of the current quarter or in the third quarter. The most logical venue for the debut appears to be Monterey Car Week.
This news indicates that Bugatti continues to develop the custom orders segment, despite the transition to a new era with the Tourbillon model. The Solitaire program allows the brand to satisfy the demand of the most discerning customers who seek to own truly exclusive cars. The use of the W16 engine in the new project is also an important signal for enthusiasts, as this legendary unit is gradually becoming a thing of the past, giving way to the hybrid technologies of the Tourbillon. Thus, Bugatti skillfully combines respect for tradition with a look to the future, creating cars that become true works of art and engineering.
